THE OPPORTUNITY

The Storeman will be responsible for ensuring that goods received into or sent out from the Warehouse are in good condition and correspond with the correct paperwork to ensure accurate stocks/records are held and customer deliveries are dispatched on a right first-time basis. Managing all the functions of transaction activities, documentation of goods and equipment and stock control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Storage & Movement of Stock

  • Understanding the company’s business & products to meet stock requirements in terms of product knowledge and own role in selling process.
  • Maintain stock bins / locations in coop with segment managers as defined [segment separation, demo, RMA’s]
    Effective control over POD’s and customs forms in terms of process and procedure.
  • Control & account for stock Movements – in & outbound.
  • Receipt of goods: Oversee off-loading; check shipment against Freight Delivery Note & sign-off; capture GRV in Accpac; submit to Finances; Inform procurement & segment managers of receipt; shelve goods per category.
  • Correctness of despatch of goods: Receipt of invoice; Bond/ package goods as specified; Check delivery details; Prepare waybill; Arrange cost-effective delivery [courier service] as per shipping guidelines] Waybill admin.
  • Transfers within bins.
  • Assist with the over-the-counter sales in coop with sales coordinators.
  • Uphold strict access control.

Stock Take Accuracy

  • Stock take to be done on a quarterly basis.
  • Stock take to be planned and executed in coop with segment managers.
  • Stock count sheets are generated by accountant at close of business the day
    before stock take.
  • Stock take to be done per segment/ bin/ item.
  • Stock take grid sheets are completed for every item & quantity that is in the store.
  • Grid sheets then transferred onto the electronic stock count sheets initiated by accountant.
  • Discrepancies to be clarified and reported as scheduled to accountant / CFO.
  • Cycle counts to be done & reported on to supervisor as scheduled – stock sheets.

Quality of Stock Support

  • To provide such support to Warehouse Manager as may be required to optimize the realization of the key responsibilities defined above.
  • To timely identify and take corrective action in coop with the Warehouse Manager to prevent/ correct mistakes/ discrepancies/ etc.
  • Ensure correctness of execution with the invoicing process.
  • Maintain sound customer relations/satisfaction by ensuring professional service delivery & follow-up on deliveries with external clients; and uphold accountable stock / workshop processes & standards with internal clients.
  • Assisting Warehouse Manager with Management Information [MIS] as & when required.
  • Accurate recordkeeping & quality of general stores admin – GRV / data capturing, etc.
  • Assist with service to clients in absence of Warehouse Manager.
  • Uphold proper housekeeping by maintaining the warehouse and site to a safe and clean standard to ensure ease of availability of stock, keep the site clean and tidy to ensure safe working practices and to allow the site to function efficiently and comply with safety legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Warehousing Operations strong recommendation.
  • Experience working in a similar warehouse, inventory or stock control role.
  • Minimum of 3-5 year’s experience in warehousing and inventory control.
  • Familiarity with stock management systems, Granite WMS and Sage 300.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with high attention to detail.
  • IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
  • Warehousing: Best practices in stock management & distribution.
  • IT proficiency/ Accpac / Granite WMS
  • Ability to effectively liaise with customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills
    Good knowledge of the products kept in stock.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Physical demands: As required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
